v1.6.0 — API in every package
API access and webhooks from the Starter package, multi-page PDFs billed per page
- API in every package: API keys and webhooks are available with every purchased scan package, no longer only with the Business package. Trial accounts have no API access.
- Billing per page: Multi-page PDFs that are not split (for example via the API or the mailbox) use one scan credit per page. The API upload response states the value in credits_charged.
v1.5.0 — Learning from corrections, revised template assistant & invoices
Templates learn from corrections, assistant with progress display and the same result as the scan, rotate documents, invoices for package purchases
- Learning from corrections: Values you confirm or correct in the review view (e.g. employee names or workplaces) are remembered by the template and passed to the AI as a reading aid on the next scan. Learning can be switched off per template and per field, and the learned list can be reset at any time. The model itself is not trained.
- Template assistant revised: The analysis runs in the background with a progress display. The trial run now processes documents exactly like the real scan, including multi-page files and rotated or smartphone-captured documents. Trial run and later result therefore match.
- Multi-page sample files: The assistant detects whether each page is its own document and, on request, processes each page as a separate scan. Documents with several tables of different columns are supported. If a suitable template already exists, the assistant points it out.
- Clearer error messages: If processing fails, DokuScan states the cause, for example a password-protected PDF, an unreadable file or a document that is too large. Failed scans are still credited back automatically.
- Rotate documents: In the review view, images can be rotated left or right. Individual pages of split PDFs are now also shown as images and can be rotated.
- Partial results marked: If a very large document was processed in shortened form, the scan is marked as a partial result, including in the API.
- Excel and CSV export: Yes/No fields appear as "yes" and "no".
- Export configuration from a sample file: A sample file of the target system (CSV, Excel or JSON) is enough. DokuScan suggests which values belong in which column and shows a trial run with your scans. Formats with several record types, such as header and line records, are not supported.
- Invoices for package purchases: For every purchase DokuScan creates an invoice, sends it by email and makes it available for download in the package overview.
- Fixes: Fields with an identical technical key overwrote each other. The key is now derived from the field name and is unique per template. PDFs with partly scanned pages are read completely.

v1.4.0 — Template assistant, quick start, API & webhooks
Create templates from a sample file, easier onboarding, API management in the application, Help Center
- Template from a sample file: One sample document is enough. DokuScan suggests extraction mode, fields and table columns. The analysis is free and uses no scans.
- Check & correct templates: Existing templates can be tested with a trial run. DokuScan suggests corrections.
- Easier onboarding: After registration a welcome page guides you through the first steps, including a sample invoice to try out. The template form offers a simple and an advanced view.
- Export mappings: Rename, split and merge columns and convert types. This delivers the planned "Configurable export columns" feature.
- API and webhooks in the application: With the Business package you now manage API keys and webhooks directly in the "API & Webhooks" menu. Webhooks accept only public HTTPS addresses.
- Help Center and API documentation: New guides on templates, upload, inbox, review, export and packages, plus the complete API description.
- Fixes: File upload via the API and the balance query now return correct results.
v1.3.0 — New quick start guide & more in-app guidance
Revised guide in 4 languages, in-app hints, faster contact for questions
- New quick start guide: Completely revised and easier to follow — now available in German, English, Spanish and Polish. Shows step by step what matters most when choosing a template, the single biggest factor for clean results.
- In-app guidance: While setting up a template, uploading, and reviewing results, DokuScan now shows targeted hints whenever a value was recognized with low confidence or something is missing.
- "Get help" button: Available right from the menu — faster contact for questions about your template, without leaving the app.
- Suggest a feature: Feature requests can now be submitted with one click, directly from the app.
Summer 2026
v1.2.0 — Table columns, inbox automation & validation
Custom table columns, submit documents by email, automatic rule checking, template version history
- Table extraction with custom columns: New "table" field type — define as many columns per row as you need. Ideal for invoice line items, order lists or delivery notes with multiple values per row.
- Inbox automation: Every template gets its own email address. Send a document as an attachment — DokuScan processes it automatically, no login required. Included from the Starter package.
- Validation rules: Min/max values for number fields, allowed options for text fields, and automatic checks for dates in the future. Scans with issues are clearly flagged in the review view.
- Template version history: Every change to a template is automatically saved as a version. View earlier states at any time and restore them with one click.

v1.1.0 — Table extraction & review workflow
Read, review and export table rows
- Table extraction: DokuScan can now extract entire tables from documents — each row is saved as its own record. Ideal for timesheets, delivery notes and order lists.
- Three extraction modes: Individual fields, table rows, or both combined — depending on how the document is structured.
- Improved review view: Every extracted row can be individually reviewed, corrected, added or deleted — directly in the browser, no download required.
- Confidence display: Every scan shows how confident the AI was during extraction. Low values signal that manual review is advisable.
- Field types: Text, numbers, date, yes/no — the AI automatically recognizes the appropriate type and formats values accordingly.
- Improved security: Document content is clearly separated from processing instructions — attempts to manipulate the system via uploaded documents are detected and blocked.

DokuScan is ready for production use
- Scan packages: One-time payments with no subscription or credit card — simply buy and use scans. Unused scans never expire.
- 10 free scans: New accounts can try DokuScan without registering a payment method.
- Automatic credit: If a scan fails, the credit is automatically refunded.
- Duplicate protection: Files that have already been uploaded are automatically detected and not billed twice.
- PDF splitting: Multi-page PDFs are automatically split — each page processed as its own scan.
- Processing display: After upload, DokuScan shows in real time which documents are currently being processed.
- Secure file storage: All documents are stored encrypted in the EU. No access by third parties.

Nov 2024- Fast text recognition: Digital PDFs are read directly — noticeably faster than scanned documents.
- OCR for scans and photos: Scanned documents and photos are automatically prepared via text recognition before the AI takes over.
- Error retry: If processing fails, a second and third attempt is automatically started.
- Background processing: All scans are processed in the background — the browser doesn't need to stay open.
